Jewish leaders urge feds to make Canada’s Nazi documents public
Description
October 1, 2023
Many Canadians were shocked to learn a man who fought for the Nazis was honoured in Parliament. But Jewish leaders say what started as an international embarrassment could become an opportunity to reveal a shameful part of Canada's history: antisemitic policies that banned Jewish refugees while allowing known Nazis to enter Canada with the government’s approval. 'The West Block' host Mercedes Stephenson speaks with Michael Mostyn, CEO of B'nai Brith, and Michael Levitt, former Liberal MP and president and CEO of the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center, about their calls for the federal government to release decades-long sealed Nazi documents to the public.
